My Project
Due to the pandemic, many of our students struggle to keep up with what is expected of them at their specific grade level. They feel frustrated and overwhelmed with mastering content in a whole group setting. Small group intervention is the most successful way to help build student success by giving them small goals to work on at their individual level and helping them meet those goals through small group instruction. Students feel comfortable in a small group setting, and are more willing to take educational risks and aren't as afraid of making mistakes when they don't feel the pressure of a whole group.
Our U-table is always filled with a group, whether it’s student led or teacher led.
A white board U-table would be a huge asset to our classroom. It would allow students the opportunity to jot their thinking quickly and have enough space to complete their work. Fresh new markers, expo cleaning materials, and a beautiful surface to write on would make our small group corner the new favorite spot of our room.
Another valuable asset to our small groups is the use of our Chromebooks. Students are able to have individual lessons uploaded to their devices that they can work on during small group time/independent work time. Some of these lessons require students to watch a video or record a response, the use of new headphones would be very helpful for them.
Finally, students love to play group games, and being able to create reusable resources with a laminator would cut down on future copies and paper waste. Students can pick games that are tailored to their interest and ability and solidify their learning of skills with review games that will be around year after year.
