Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 4th ICT grade classroom is filled with diverse personalities and creative minds. They love to read, show off their math skills, become scientists in their classroom, and participate in hands-on activities. They each have admitted that there is at least one subject area they want to improve on.
My students are superstars.
We work on building each other up in the classroom. This 2020-2021 school year, we have had to do so virtually, and although my fourth graders have all faced probably the toughest year of their young lives, they continue to push forward with a smile on their faces--when they turn their ZOOM cameras on!
I feel blessed to be working at a school in the South Bronx because I am constantly reminded of the reality of education in low-income areas and the precious, young minds who dwell there. My co-teacher and I remind our students often about the importance of kindness, respect, and education. We remind them that despite the negativity that may circulate their very own neighborhood, they can become successful and do not have to become what they are used to seeing, but in fact, they can become who they dream to be.
My Project
Teachers Pay Teachers is an absolutely amazing resource, especially during remote learning.
My hope is to use this gift card to purchase engaging resources from Teachers Pay Teachers that I can use in-person and also remotely.
As a Special Education Teacher, I want to make sure I provide helpful tools that will benefit my wide range of learners. Hands-on resources are important to me when teaching in-person because it supports engagement.
For example, I would purchase flap-books that my students could paste in their Reading Notebooks. This resource would assist them with Literacy and vocabulary. Another resource I would purchase is a bundle of activities that support them as readers and writers. Meanwhile, when teaching remotely, digital tools that will captivate my students and keep them engaged in learning is vital. For instance, I would purchase digital notebooks so that I may hold my students accountable for doing the work.
The resources are endless and I hope to obtain a TpT gift card to make purchases that benefit my students' learning.
