Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Speech language pathologists (SLPs) at our Title 1 school serve over 150 students who require speech and language services. Speech therapy is important, as it supports academic achievement and functional skills within and outside of the school setting. The requested items will enable the SLPs to deliver more engaging and creative speech therapy to all of our students; which will also assist in carrying over learned techniques. Every student is unique and has different learning styles, and we aim to better cater to these needs by utilizing a variety of therapy materials. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards will be split amongst the SLP team to buy therapy material that can be adapted to fit our caseload's needs and target many goals during group sessions. A little SPOT of feelings will act as a visual to help our students regulate their emotions and understand why they are feeling that way. The dry board eraser boards will be utilized by the students to interact more in sessions without using paper products. Laminating pouches will be utilized to laminate material purchased on teachers pay teachers, so that we can use the material over again. Lastly, our school is very diverse and we have students from more than 25 different countries. The children's book focusing on diversity can expose students to various cultures while targeting so many different speech and language goals.
