My Students

My students are a lovable set of kids who enjoy life! Many come from difficult situations and a tough neighborhood where there are a lot of factors pulling them in every direction to do the wrong thing.

When they come to school, it is often difficult for them to switch into learning mode without the right tools and materials.

As a school, we hope to help our students by giving them an excellent foundation for their further education. My students hold high hopes for their futures, and I hope to equip them to hold themselves to high expectations for their life.

My Project

Every year we come upon a time where students are able to access books more readily in the classroom. During the testing season and closing in on the end of the year, students have more opportunities to read for pleasure while in my classroom. I love being able to provide students with books that they are interested in.

My focus for this request is literature that focuses on African-American heroes and how they changed the world.

This is a huge interest area for all of my students, as they see the history of African-American people recognized and celebrated. My hope is that students are highly engaged in the reading of these novels and books that they are encouraged by these amazing stories.
