My Project
Last month I borrowed a class set of flashlights so my students could read by flashlight for 20 minutes. This was a hit! So much so that my sudents have requested that my next DonorsChoose project be to get our class flashlights so we can do Flashlight Friday each week.
The 20 minutes of Flashlight Friday was the most engaged I have ever seen my class in reading.
My hopes are that with these flashlights and new graphic novels, my students will begin to eagerly anticipate reading in a way like never before. We will use them each Friday for 20 minutes after returning from lunch. During that time, the students can snuggle up with blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, and settle in for a fabulously cozy reading experience.
