My Students
Teaching students to read and watching them grow into life long readers/learners is one of the best feelings in the world! The students I work with haven't had a real chance to be introduced to engaging non-fiction texts, and when I have used Scholastic News & Time for Kids before with them, they dive into the articles and won't stop reading! The students I work with are the struggling students who need to be given a chance to fall in love with reading!
My Project
Scholastic News Magazines opens the world of Non-Fiction reading in a whole new way! Most students are used to the normal boring non-fiction topics, but Scholastic News makes it more engaging, so the students want to continue reading! The students will use these magazines during their independent reading time and small group work. Each student will have their own copy to have during class time.
Non-fiction is usually the hardest genre for students to comprehend, so finding engaging texts for students will help them become life long readers.
Students will use these magazines during their independent reading time along with during small group work. They will be able to analyze and comprehend easier because of the engaging materials.
