My Students
I have a fun, energetic group of 1st graders. They love learning and exploring new things. Their curiosity lifts our learning to new levels.
School has been a unique experience for this group of kiddos.
Some have studied online, some were in classrooms with fewer students, and some missed instruction altogether. But all have been impacted by COVID-19. The constant change of routine for these littles has made learning the basic foundations of reading even more difficult. Many are missing letter names and sounds. Blending simple consonant, vowel, consonant words is a struggle for many others!
My Project
Many of our students have fallen behind due to COVID-19! Because of this, they need extra time practicing their letters, blending sounds, and reading words. The repetition can become boring, and students would prefer to stay in the classroom.
Playing to learn can change all of that!
These games and hands-on activities will be used during our reading intervention time when we are working with our most vulnerable students. They will help students to not only want to work in small groups but ask for it. Students will enjoy and engage in the time they spend practicing.
The magnetic letters will give the students a tactile experience as they touch each letter saying the sounds, and push letters together to blend the sounds and make words. Students will be able to visually see how changing one sound forms a new word by simply moving letters in and out of the words!
