Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school has 1 projector for our two kindergarten classes to share. It is very time consuming to unplug the projector and set it up and break it down, so I often do without. The projector gives the students access to many engaging and interactive activities that increase student engagement.
My class is comprised of 26 inner city students in New York.
The students range in age from 4-6 years old. Some of the students speak other languages than English. About 1/3 of the class is working below grade level. Our class has 2 full-time teachers. I am the lead teacher and I have an associate teacher that is creative, dedicated, and organized!
My Project
The projector will make the math and reading lessons come alive! The projector gives us access to engaging games that the students can play. Little do they know that they are learning valuable skills while "playing."
All math and reading lessons are projected on the wall and as a result, I have the undivided attention of ALL students!
By having access to a projector, my students will increase their reading and math skills by being able to do hands on activities using many modalities, which means more learning and more success!
The students will also spend more time being actively engaged in the lessons which spells MORE STUDENT SUCCESS, my #1 goal!
