Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Bilingual students and diverse learners sometimes fall through the cracks, not because they lack ability, but because traditional instruction doesn’t always meet their unique needs. My students are eager to learn, but they need lessons that are engaging, hands-on, and accessible.
With this project, I’m asking for reading comprehension board games and whiteboards with dry erase markers to support small-group learning and whole-class review.
The board games will help my students work together in small groups while practicing essential reading skills like main idea, sequencing, and inferencing, all through fun, structured play. While they’re engaged in these activities, I’ll be able to work with a small group for targeted instruction and support.
I also believe that learning should be active. That’s why I’ve included whiteboards and markers, which students will use to write answers during review games and practice sessions. This approach gives every student a chance to participate, think critically, and stay engaged, especially those who may not always feel comfortable speaking out loud.
These tools will allow me to create a more inclusive classroom where every student, regardless of their learning style, language background, or academic level, has a chance to shine.
