My Students
I teach kindergarten in a very high poverty area in Philadelphia. Most students enter kindergarten with no preschool experience; yet, they are excited to learn. I am committed to providing them with the experiences necessary to help them grow academically, socially, and behaviorally.
Despite not having strong educational backgrounds from home, my 30 students energetically come to school eager to learn and craving the materials to do so.
My students may not have had food at home and may be left responsible for themselves or their younger siblings, however they are still young children who must experience childhood.
My Project
My students need access to technology to help them access the wonderful differentiated programs and websites available to them.
Unfortunately, we have only a few classroom computers, and they do not work.
I would like my students to have the ability to use the wonderful differentiated literacy websites and aps available to help them to learn and to help to individualize their learning. I intend to also use this technology to help those who are struggling and those who are ahead to continue to strive.
Technology provides high-interest activities to reach those children who may not be reached and learning through traditional means.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
