My students need high-interest literature that will support them in developing a love for reading through engaging texts. Series books do a great job in expanding our students' creativity and will help them become life-long readers.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in one of the lowest income, highest poverty schools in our district I understand that our students face many obstacles. As a teacher within our school, the goal is for students to understand that learning is the key to success in life. By preparing our learners academically, and giving them many experiences they would not have access to otherwise, we are molding positive contributors to our school community and the community outside of our district.
This year I am teaching a very bright, enthusiastic group of students as an enrichment teacher in all subject areas.
I am fortunate to have discovered that they have the capacity to be great readers and I want to work with them to help self-discover their own love for reading. When our students love to learn teaching becomes much more organic within the classroom.
My third graders love to work together and bring such life and joy into the classroom each and every day. They come eager to learn new things and come with the skills needed to be successful. I need rich, engaging and challenging resources to push my students to the fullest of their capacities.
My Project
Book series will engage and help our students in continuing to develop their love of reading. Reading is an important aspect of learning and in everyday life. When we help our students find this passion on their own they learn that books can take them places. These book series will be a great asset to our classroom library as it will allow my more reluctant readers to discover their 'just right' books that truly peak their interest.
By expanding our classroom library our advanced readers will be taken on a journey in each series, make connections to the events in each text and become more familiar with the characters, setting and author.
When students develop this comfort then, we see a tremendous growth in the stamina of our students in their independent reading.
My students struggle to stay engaged with texts at their level often due to a lack of interest and lacking of variety. With your generous contributions to our classroom library our students will fall in love with reading all over again and you will have a hand in allowing our students to have the experience of opening a new book they have never read! You are not just investing in a library but investing in the development of lifelong readers.
