This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is an inner-city school. We serve a diverse population of students and families.
We serve a student population of predominantly English language learners, and 100% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Since our school serves a very high population of economically disadvantaged families who face many unique challenges, the staff at the school partners with families to not only support students' academic needs but social and emotional needs as well. Despite language barriers, they come to school eager to learn.
My Project
My students need new math materials for math stations. The activities need to be standards-based and the activities need to help enhance their understanding of the lessons.
With the sequence puzzles, magnetic tens frames, base ten blocks, and the subtilizing math rockets I will be able to have them practice the skills I am teaching.
With these new stations, I will be able to have more stations for them to practice the crucial skills needed to build stronger math skills. Kindergarten is the building block for building a solid foundation in math. Please help us achieve our goals.
