This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher to an amazing group of fourth grade students and in a short time we have formed a bond with each other. I look forward to the warm good morning smiles and greetings from each one as they walk into our classroom. The school they attend is classified as a Title I school. All of them qualify for the free lunch program. The community in which they live is stricken by a high level of poverty. This, however, does not affect their desire to please me, which in turn makes me love my job even more so.

My Project

I am requesting the following book titles such as "Diary of a Wimpy Kid," "Dork Diaries" and others for family engagement packs for my 4th graders. These family engagement packs will include titles that most of my students enjoy reading just for the fun of it.

Every Monday, the students will get to take home a family engagement pack to read at home.

The children and their families will have a whole week to read, explore, and discuss the stories in the family engagement pack they take home. These books will be utilized in hopes of getting the whole family involved in their child's education. These family engagement packs will encourage families to establish a stronger bond between home and school.
