Engaging English Language Learners with Interactive Tools and Games

My Project
The anchor chart paper will allow us to create visual aids that break down complex language concepts, providing my ENL students with clear references during lessons. The sensory bubble poppers offer a tactile way to practice letter recognition and phonics, making learning more engaging while helping students focus and retain information. The board games, like Guess Who?, will offer a fun, interactive approach to practicing language skills. These games will encourage students to ask questions, form sentences, and build vocabulary in a low-pressure environment, reinforcing their language development in a way that’s enjoyable and collaborative. The stickers and Mini Animal Plushies will be used as incentives for students who work on their assignments.
The goal of this project is to create an interactive and supportive learning environment that encourages language acquisition for my 7th-grade ENL students.
By incorporating hands-on tools, visual aids, and games, I aim to make learning fun while helping my students build essential language skills. These resources will allow my students to participate more actively, increase their confidence in using English, and improve their vocabulary, comprehension, and communication skills.
What makes my students special is their resilience, motivation, and diverse cultural backgrounds. They come from Tanzania, Syria, Congo, Cameroon, Afghanistan, Turkey, Somalia, and Haiti. They face the challenge of learning a new language while adapting to a new school and societal environment, yet they remain eager and determined to succeed. Many are at the beginning stages of English language learning, and they benefit greatly from activities that make language accessible and engaging. This project will provide them with the resources they need to thrive both academically and socially, while building their confidence as English Language Learners.
