Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten class consists of approximately 25 students from low-income families. My students are creative and eager to learn. They are excited to come into a new learning environment for the first time. My students come into my class from mainly Spanish speaking families. My students are exceptional and hardworking students that are eager to begin learning in a 21st-century classroom with tools to help them live and function in this digital age.
They work and encourage each other and help create a great vibe of comradery among our classroom.
My Project
These Ipads will help my students tremendously. Many of my students are Emergent English Language Learners meaning many of my students are coming into the classroom learning the English language as a second language with Spanish being their primary language.
The iPads will allow my students the opportunity to learn English by engaging in applications that many of them do not have access to at home.
Many of my students come from low-income areas and do not have access to laptops, wifi or tablets. My students are expected to use the programs Imagine Learning and I-Ready on a daily basis both in school and at home and with our class sharing a laptop cart every other day with the class next door it becomes difficult for the students to meet their weekly goals in both programs on top of many of them not being able to complete them at home. These iPads will help my students learn English and help them to complete the required lessons on their digital programs.
