My Students
Students walk into my classroom full of energy and ready to learn. Many of my students have challenges that stand in the way, making learning harder for them. I teach special education students from pre-kindergarten to 5th grade. My school is in an urban area with about 70% receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Since I teach special education, I need hands-on, engaging ways to teach my students the curriculum. My students come into my classroom for help, sometimes feeling hopeful but other times feeling like failures. Each student has different academic needs, as well as different emotional needs.
My Project
My students enjoy playing games and never realize they are sharpening learning skills. The games help with both math and reading skills that the students will need throughout their lives.
Each of the activities in the project will be engaging and fun for the students' learning inside the classroom!
The math mats will be great to help the students work out and keep the math problems straight. The blank reading books will be a way for each student to work on writing while using their own topic and expression. The stickers will keep the students motivated when the students are working hard.
