This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What better way to spend my first year teaching than with an amazing group of kindergarteners! My class is made up of 17 energetic, fun-loving, enthusiastic kids who truly love learning! They come into our classroom every morning smiling and eager to see what I have in store for them that day. Over half of my students are English learners, but you would never know it once I open a book and begin reading! I love watching my kids get lost in the stories that we read. Their imaginations go wild, and they soak up everything that they hear. That is why I want to build our classroom library. Being a first year teacher, I have a limited supply of personal books to share with my students. My goal is to read at least one book a day to my class! They love our story time, and I do too!
My Project
My goal is to read at least one book a day to my students! No assignments. No assessments. No strings attached. Through pictures, fun-loving characters, and engaging storylines, I truly believe my students love for reading will grow! I also believe my English learning students will develop a broader vocabulary and feel more connected to the material we are learning through books that align with our curriculum. It’s important to engage our students, and what better way than through beautiful illustrations and well-written books! My love for reading made school enjoyable for me, and I hope to create the same love for learning in my students!
