it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our art program, sketchbooks are more than just a place to draw—they’re a space for reflection, planning, and documenting the creative process. To bring new life and deeper engagement to these sketchbooks, we are seeking funding for a variety of fun and functional supplies like stickers, stamps, and other visual tools. These materials will help us reintroduce AVID WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading) strategies into our art classrooms in a way that’s intentional, student-centered, and visually inspiring.
Next school year, this project will impact over 1,000 students across multiple levels of visual arts by using stickers and stamps, students will be able to annotate their work, track their growth, mark progress, and creatively organize their thoughts and reflections.
These tools not only make sketchbooking more engaging but also support literacy and critical thinking by encouraging students to interact with their artwork through written and visual analysis. For example, stamps can prompt students to answer reflective questions, while stickers can be used to mark peer feedback, goals, and milestones.
With your support, we’ll foster a culture of creativity, organization, and deeper learning in our art program. These small additions to our classrooms will have a big impact—giving students a sense of ownership over their sketchbooks and making the AVID strategies come alive in a vibrant and meaningful way.
