I work at a school that has a very active and curious group of diverse students. They love working on tablets to practice skills, learn new things, and create. This year I work with first grade students, but am transitioning into a Reading Specialist. The materials from this project will impact students across all of the grades. My project will help me to utilize technology more frequently and authentically in the classroom. This iPad and microphone set will meet two goals. It will give students an opportunity to create and perform that is currently restricted due to inadequate technology. It will also enable me to be a more effective teacher. Students will be able to create content that demonstrates and enhances their learning. A teacher iPad to monitor student work will enable me to quickly intervene with struggling students, redirect students who get distracted, add programs all at once to students' tablets, and perform maintenance tasks more efficiently. In addition, we will have access to larger programs and more programs that cannot be added to current iPads due to memory restrictions. The ability to save, share, and demonstrate progress of student work will be significantly enhanced.
When students use the microphone to speak in front of the class, it gives them confidence and a place to shine.
It also provides an opportunity for students to encourage one another. Regular access to technology engages and encourages student learning and provides opportunities for deeper and more personalized learning. The TPT gift cards will give me access to materials to diversify my lessons and find new ways of enhancing curriculum to make information and skills more accessible.
