My Students
How often do you look at emerging technologies and wonder what it would be like? Does this bring you back to your childhood? If this at all speaks to you, you may understand why I want to bring controlled flight to my students to use in a safe and fun environment, at school.
The students who are in my building make up two different elementary schools and come from a very wide and diverse background.
The students are being educated in the era that is greatly influenced by rapidly changing technology advancement. This is where allowing them to experiment with controlled flight in school is hoping to engage and inspire.
My Project
Recently I was able to go on a field trip to visit a MakerSpace in the south metro. My mind was blown with what I saw and I knew instantly that the students in my building would love to be able to experience using the tools that I saw. Students will use the helicopter and robot insect drone to learn firsthand how flight works and will be working on controlled flight.
Engagement for many students may be difficult when sitting in the classroom if they do not understand why and how what they are being taught relates to their real life.
It is my hope that using math and science will support their understanding of flight.
