This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students are full of high energy and ready to engage in all areas. They come from all backgrounds and attend a small public community school in the San Fernando valley.

They love to learn many things and love to listen to stories during rug time.

They become engaged when I read them a story or have class discussions and when their classmates are presenting their projects. My students enjoy story time and rug time because stories spark their imagination, and they are able to be creative.

My Project

The soft cushions will provide my kindergarten students with a more comfortable and cleaner way of sitting on the floor. They will also have more space in between them so they will be able to focus on the story or lesson more rather than being restricted to a box on the large classroom rug.

The small area rugs will be under the cushions so that students will not touch the floor when they are sitting down.

These cushions and small rugs will be better than a large classroom rug because I will be able to remove and clean the cushions on a daily basis. I will also be able to sweep and mop in this area because I will not have a large rug that traps dirt and debris. Having these seating cushions and rugs are also cleaner for the children who have sensitive skin or asthma.
