My Project
Hello! I am posting this project to help with my small group instruction. In this project I have included materials that not only helps with early literacy but aids with early development with mathematics.
As a kindergarten teacher, I have seen firsthand the powerful impact that small group instruction has on young learners.
In the early years of education, children are developing foundational skills in reading, math, communication, and social-emotional development. Small group instruction allows educators to meet students where they are—whether they are just beginning to recognize letters or already reading simple sentences. In this project I have materials like CVC word builder and math link chain manipulatives that aid small group by providing hands on activities.
In my classroom, small group time is when I see the most growth. I can provide targeted instruction, adapt materials and space for students who need extra support, and challenge those who are ready to go further. For example the small group dots in this project can help draw students to feel excited about learning! I can ask specific questions, give immediate feedback, and build strong, trusting relationships with my students. It’s during small group time that confidence blossoms and real progress is made. Small group instruction isn’t just beneficial—it’s essential. It honors the unique needs of each child and lays a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Not only does this project reflect small group learning but morning meeting time. I have included calendar materials that will aid in the morning when my students are learning about calendar! This offers practice patterns, concepts of time and opportunities to share out about student interest like birthdays holidays and school events!
