My students need write and wipe materials, including boards, markers, erasers and manipulatives.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Dunlop's classroom raised $358

My Students
My co-teacher and I strive to encourage our students to actively participate in class and hold themselves accountable for their own learning.
Our class is an integrated co-teaching class with special education students of varying needs.
They are hard-working, well-behaved and supportive of one another. They work best when engaged with hands-on manipulatives and when presented with visual aids.
We are part of an elementary school located in a low-income neighborhood with an ethnically diverse population, many of whom are first-generation English language learners. Half of the students in my class are full-time special education students, with a variety of learning challenges: visual impairment, speech/language processing difficulties, learning disabled, and emotional problems.
My Project
Our students learn best when materials are readily available and visually stimulating. Currently, we struggle to provide the study aids and visual supports to help our students access challenging concepts and skills. Write and wipe boards can be used to quickly model concepts for students and to informally assess student learning during lessons.
Our fifth grade students will be transitioning into middle school next year.
A primary goal for us is to prepare them to self-assess understanding of concepts and material being taught and to be accountable for their own learning. Write and wipe materials serve as an "at a glance" assessment tool to both hold students individually accountable and allow teachers to aid struggling learners.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
