Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my classroom have diverse needs, yet fit together like the pieces of a puzzle. Now, one piece of our puzzle is missing. Our classroom is in need of a laptop so that my students can take full advantage of the document camera and projector we have in our classroom.
My students are hard working 1st graders in need of a laptop!
Our school contains many students who are English language learners, and we have an ever increasing free and reduced lunch population. As such, many of these students do not have technology in the home and do not have much exposure to it outside of what they see at school. A laptop is the missing piece of our technology puzzle, and would greatly benefit the students.
First and foremost, we will use the laptops to enhance their proficiency with technology. I want my students to be as comfortable as their more affluent peers with navigating a laptop and the Internet. Secondly we'll use the laptops to supplement learning taking place in the classroom. When we learn about the science or social studies, we can go to web sites that can aid with research. When we learn about magnets and electricity, we can go to science websites. The possibilities are endless!
My Project
My students will use the laptop in all aspects of learning (Across all subject areas). They will use it for graphing/counting their lunch count, reading and identifying sight words, looking closely at science observations, and also discovering about each other and their world. They will be more excited, active, and engaged in their learning. The new laptop will allow this learning to happen.
Our goal is to create engaged, excited, and college ready students.
