My students come from a diverse array of cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds. They are fun, high-energy, and have worked so hard during distance learning due to Covid 19. We are currently in a hybrid model for teaching so I see the students just 2-3 days a week.
I want my students to build on their successes that they had in the fall and to feel appreciated for all the work they are accomplishing.
My students have demonstrated that they want to learn and they want to be successful, but we need additional resources to keep everyone actively engaged both in the classroom at at home.
Having digital resources combined with the chess boards will help students feel connected at home and at school. The additional supplies help students since we are unable to share resources. I am developing activities that will help my students learn while also feeling connected to their classmates.
My Project
My students continue to be learning in a hybrid model which means they are at school only 2-3 days per week. They are learning remotely the other days and sometimes feel unconnected to the school. Using Teacher Pay Teacher resources, I will be able to give the students meaningful activities that they can complete within google classroom.
While at school we need new activities to engage the students and they have expressed a growing interest in playing chess.
We only have 2 chess boards, so having the additional boards will help more students to become involved.
Students need and want to feel successful and this begins with feeling organized. Having the notes on colored paper will help the students find their materials within their notebooks. My students have done so well with distance learning so I want to continue to encourage the success that they have experienced.
