This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students reside in a low socio-economic community. Most of them don't have the means to purchase the academic tools necessary for success in high school. The majority would be the first in their family to attend college and they aspire to this goal. After working in this community, I see the struggle and the anxiety that many of them experience when they are about to take the next step in their academic career, realizing that they may not. have the important skills to excel in the competitive college acceptance process. All they need is an equal opportunity to get the same preparation that other more affluent students receive. I am confident that if they get the help they need they will become productive and successful adults.
My Project
Because the students in our school reside in a low socio-economic community, they are not exposed to 21st-century learning. After attending the Pathfinders Institute, I learned how to set up a Maker lab. Additionally, I saw the benefits to students, who will design and create various products, while learning 21st century academic and social skills. All the items that are requested will be used to create these products, which they can share with their peers, families, and community.
Using the laser cutter materials will help them increase their knowledge of mathematics, physics and help them become more adept at problem-solving.
This, in turn, will lead to success in their chosen career.
