Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are bright, energetic, and ready to learn Math. My students are English language learners and have limited life experiences outside their immediate family and neighborhood. These kids eagerly come to school each day and enjoy the engaging Math activities in our classroom.

My school is in a low socioeconomic area where most of my students do not have access to at-home support for homework or projects.

I want my students to have many opportunities to see how math relates to their own lives and to become problem solvers.

My Project

Providing my students with flexible seating options will help them to concentrate longer, and provide them a choice of how they want to learn. I will lower their tables, and use the seating disks for students who need to move during Math. These seating options will help those students who have difficulty focusing by allowing them to rock back and forth on the stools as they work during math group lessons and station activities and partner activities.

The Math Folder games will allow my students additional opportunities to practice math skills using fractions and decimals, as well as algebraic reasoning.
