Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students come to school eager to learn and be part of engaging and fun learning experiences. They are creative, empathetic, kind, and courageous. COVID-19 has impacted learning over the past year and half by taking away the opportunities to engage in developmental, fun, and creative opportunities. Most of my students have little to no opportunities to experience the use of engaging tools.
The request for a STEM kit would help enrich our science, math, and social emotional content areas in our classroom.
My students would benefit from hands-on activities by sparking creativity and the love for learning. A STEM kit would motivate learning by allowing students, specially my ELL students, interact with rich vocabulary. It would help support social emotional learning by allowing students to collaborate, communicate, and interact in prosocial ways. It would also help support students with special needs by supporting abstract concepts. It would have a positive impact on our science, math, and reading content areas by allowing students to bring all their learning together and be able to reach their learning goals in a fun and exciting way.
I have seen how rich hands-on activities can help support student learning. When students are provided with rich learning opportunities, learning becomes exciting, enjoyable, and gratifying. This project will help increase their desire for learning.
