My Students
All of my students live in a large city in Michigan and receive free lunch. Many of my students come to me speaking little or no English. Here, at our wonderful school, there is something for everyone. Even the parents like to engage in our learning opportunities.
My students don't like sitting around; they like to be engaged and to explore new things.
As their teacher, I would like to make available a wide variety of learning materials so they can engage and learn in a variety of ways. I also want to make sure they are well fed so the can concentrate on learning and not hunger pains.
My Project
Poor nutrition has been proven to effect students academic success. This project will help improve my students mental focus and allow learning to occur. With young children, consuming the daily recommendations of fruits and vegetables can be a challenge. However, this project will allow the children to blend a couple of servings of each into a delicious smoothie.
The blender and Best 100 Smoothies for Kids: Incredibly Nutritious and Totally Delicious book will help ensure my students meet their body’s daily nutritional needs.
The glass bottles and silicone protectors will help the students learn about waste and recycling. The bottle cleaner will foster the learning of proper sanitation.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
