Energize, Enhance & Extend Our Learning With Technology
My students need 3 iPod touches to facillitate new ways of small group learning that can adhere to all levels and an apple TV so that everyone can see and be engaged!

My Students
It's 2012 and my classroom resources still look and feel like 1950. Children are excited by technology and need the opportunity to be using it on a daily basis. Help transport our modern day learners to the modern world!
My students are representative of America.
They are mixed in culture and ethnic backgrounds. They are a combination of economic classes from poverty to middle class. They all have hard working and concerned parents that put a lot into supporting the school their child goes to but they need help too! They are eager to learn but they are first graders whom need constant assistance in focusing and a multitude of learning devices to secure what their learning into their early foundations. The school they attend is in a nice area; however, even there they have had to experience a lock down lasting til 7.oo pm and currently our high school feeder had a close by shooting. They are surrounded by a lot of changes within their families and often surroundings. Less and less kids at our school have stay at home moms who can help in class and we have no aids to help children succeed on a daily basis.
My Project
The iPod touch will open the door to individual and small group learning that brings current technology to all areas of the curriculum. The inexpensive applications can energize and enhance the understanding of all the standards I teach. For example: there is an application called Kids Doodle in which kids can draw and take notes about what we learn then they can take a film of it. I could then have a log for the year that we can review on the apple TV. The new California reading program, Treasures incorporates small group sessions that are well suited for these devices. The apple TV will allow me to project the image for the whole class and can even help to begin some interactive discussions globally. I know we can also up load classical music, jazz, and multicultural world beats to get our students to experience music in a new way and this can assist their writing skills as well. As a first grade teacher, whom teaches highly energized kids whom need focus I know these devices help!
These current devices our needed to help bring us all into learning in a modern world.
My students need not be left behind. They need daily access to these assistive resources. I know any school surrounded by a majority of wealth or most schools in our district whom have a large group in the poverty line get more assistance on getting these resources. We're always stuck in the middle taking from our own incomes or begging hard working families to help us. Please bring us into 2012 properly!
