My Project
My students are pre-kindergarten students who meet the state requirements and are labeled as being "at-risk" of not succeeding; thus, they are placed in the program to help them succeed. They are four years of age and live in a medium-large city. My school follows the "Nurtured Heart" philosophy, where we work to find greatness in each child. In my classroom, I try to make each child comfortable and part of our school family.
Elizabeth Foss says, "When the atmosphere encourages learning, the learning is inevitable." My students are preparing to enter Kindergarten in the fall of next year.
As I prepare to leave them for surgery leave, I realize that I don't have their regular end-of-the-year gift, and I am trying to prepare a bag for them for the substitute to give them during my surgery leave. This book and bag will be part of their end-of-the-year gift; I will be supplementing it with other things myself. Reading is so important, and I love to give each child a book of their own as they enter the summer before kindergarten. I have a few copies of the book already, so these copies will add to what I have, and be enough for each child to get their own.
