Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds, although many of them are the same in one way: 90+% of my students are on or below the poverty level. These children love all things typical fourth graders love, including playing tag outside, learning new concepts, hands-on activities, and helping each other achieve both individual and whole class goals. They're regular kids doing their best to learn in a classroom that lacks updated technology.
My students are curious, eager learners from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds, who all receive free lunch, meaning they are all living below the poverty level.
These children love learning! They have been enthralled with our unit of study of animal defense mechanisms, and are thirsty to learn more. My students have insatiable appetites for learning, but are hindered by outdated technology and lack of resources.
My Project
My students have limited access to technology which would enhance their understanding of all topics far beyond just pictures! There are videos to help them discover how people are protecting endangered animals; interviews online where Native Americans describe tribal life of long ago; Science and Engineering websites that show the results of engineering and scientific marvels, and even failures from which to learn and grow, just to name a few.
My students need these vital 21st century Chromebooks with charging station to improve their chances of success in a continually shrinking world, and have a better shot for a bright and successful future!
