My students come to school because every day is a day to become a better person.
My students are 4, 5 and 6-year-olds who are very eager to learn.
Most of them come from low income families with only one parent who is struggling to hold the family together. They struggle academically, have emotional and social challenges, and many suffer from family issues that are out of their control. They live in a neighborhood where two-thirds of family household income is below the federal poverty threshold and resources are not available for them.
My Project
My students have been working really hard this year despite all the back and forth between in-person learning and virtual learning. They have learned not only academics, but lots of different technology while learning from home behind a computer screen. Each time we have had to switch how we are learning they still kept a smile on their faces and showed up for class ready to learn.
I would love to give them jump ropes, snacks, kick balls, sidewalk chalk, and bubbles to keep them busy during the summer.
They can use these materials for exercise, playing outdoors, drawing or writing pictures, numbers, letters, etc. These materials will give them a reason to go outside.
