This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a group of amazing second graders who love to read and be read to! They enjoy reading books of all genres, comparing and contrasting authors, and creating stories for wordless picture books! My students use comprehension strategies to make connections, use their schema, make inferences, ask questions, visualize, and summarize during a read-aloud! They amaze me with their ability to use their metacognition and dive deep into their thinking when reading!

My second graders are eager to read, read, read and would love a collection of new books for independent reading and read alouds!

We would love new books to help further our comprehension, reading fluency, and love for reading!

My Project

Students need exposure to a variety of books to help foster their love for reading! These books will give ALL students the opportunity to grow academically as well as socially and emotionally by exposing them to different genres of literature. It will give them the opportunity to use comprehension strategies like questioning, visualizing, summarizing, that promote real reading using their metacognition! Helping students learn to love reading is the first step in creating lifelong, well-read, and engaged readers! These books will be treasured and loved by my students!
