My Students
I am the library media specialist in a school of just over 1300 students. I am in love with the diversity and personalities of all my students. My students work hard everyday to be the best versions of themselves, and rely on me to find windows and doors to other worlds-both the familiar and not-so-familiar.
They are exuberant, creative, and vivacious and they inspire me to work my hardest every day.
I have athletes, nerds, scholars, romantics, and clowns of all colors that come to mingle in the space I provide for them.
My Project
We are still in the process of building our library collection to size that will adequately serve our 1350 students. These are books that students have requested or books that are similar to ones that are very popular. Every single book donated gets us one step closer to fully supporting our students.
These books are important for supporting both the literacy and social/emotional needs of our students.
These books support free choice reading which helps to improve literacy across the campus. They also help the social/emotional needs of the students by giving them safe escapes from stress as well as views into how other people might live their lives.
