This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every year, I get struggling readers who absolutely hate reading. Every year, I tell them this: “find something you want to learn more about. Ask other student their favorite book series and why they like it. I hated reading as a kid, I struggled with it so much. But I found several popular book series and couldn’t get enough. I met friends who liked them just as much as I did. Now, as an adult, I read all kinds of cool science journals and teach English. Reading is more powerful than many people realize. Every time you read something, even if it’s something you have already read, you still learn something new.”

The books I have chosen here are the most sought after in the library in my classroom.

I don’t have many of these books, but the few I have are well-worn, and students have to wait for their turn to read them. I would love more copies for more of my students to enjoy and newer stories of their favorite characters to excite them once more!
