My Students

As an International Baccalaureate World School, we want students to be inquirers, and be curious about the world around them, and work collaboratively. We are an urban school with socio-economic and cultural diversity. Our students and teachers are a diverse group, each bringing unique strengths to our educational program. This year we have Arabic, Spanish, and English speakers in our classroom. These students need to be able to work and communicate with each other to be successful and feel a part of the our community. The mission of our school is to develop lifelong learners and globally-minded citizens by fostering the academic, creative, and social skills needed to achieve excellence and competence in a multicultural world.

My Project

Intermediate students need space! Tables will prepare them for advanced learning - making them feel more mature and helping them achieve at that level. It will be easier to move and change groups without having to move furniture, and have more fluid work spaces.

Students will be able to take a leadership role, instead of the teacher direct teaching at the front of the class, students will collaborate and lead the learning.

Tables will allow all learners to participate in discussions, group work, and cooperative learning. I want our classroom to have a community feel.

With multiple languages spoken in my room, tables will allow students to interact, communicate and translate with one another. Two heads are always better than one - table will allow this collaboration!
