Our 8th grade students are exciting and full of life. As teachers, we need to engage them through text that is as exciting as they are.
Encouraging a love of reading is a priority for our classroom.
Our hope is to allow students to be more independent when it comes to reading across the curriculum.
Assistive technology will allow my students to be more independent which will help build positive self-esteem which then makes school more enjoyable.
My Project
Reading is a skill that we continue to work on daily. If students struggle to read, they tend to not read for pleasure. Reading pens will allow my students to interact with new text independently.
Developing independence is something teachers strive to teach daily.
My students will be able to have any text read to them at the time they need it. My students often give up before they even get started.
Providing opportunities to foster independence is key to growing more well-rounded students who are capable of way more than they think.
