This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students at my school are wonderful. As a school social worker, I have the privilege of working closely with students in order to help them develop and strengthen skills related to friendship, emotion regulation, and--overall--how to be the best students that they can be! When a student feels confident in their ability to regulate themselves and maintain healthy friendships, they are able to focus their attention on the academic material provided by their classroom teachers. Especially after the effects of COVID-19 on student well-being, my students are in need of even more social-emotional support.

My students especially love books, games, and activities that help them to strengthen their SEL skills in a fun way.

In addition to classroom social-emotional learning lessons for kindergarten through second-grade classrooms, I meet with students in small groups. The items requested would assist in making my lessons and small groups more dynamic and engaging for students. In strengthening my school social worker programming at my school, I will be able to more effectively support my amazing students!
