Empty Bowls Fundraiser for Backpack Buddies

Help me give my students an opportunity to help our low-income families by contributing to the Empty Bowls fundraiser with Backpack Buddies. We will create bowls to be purchased as a fundraiser to feed students for the weekend.

My Project

The Empty Bowls fundraiser is an event where students make ceramic bowls and then sell them to raise money for a good cause, usually to help fight hunger. By participating in this project, students learn valuable skills, like working with clay and understanding the process of creating something from scratch. They also get the chance to support their community by contributing to a charity that provides meals for people in need. Plus, it gives them a sense of accomplishment seeing their work help others. Overall, it's a hands-on way for students to be creative and make a positive impact. Donors typically pay to attend, and in return, they receive a simple meal, often served in bowls that are made by local students, potters, or artists. The idea is that after eating, everyone leaves with an empty bowl, symbolizing the idea of people who don’t have enough to eat. The money raised goes to charities or programs that assist those in need, like food banks or soup kitchens. It’s a way to bring attention to the issue of hunger while also providing support to those who need it. We want to raise $2500.00 by creating 100 bowls. My students want to give back to the community that has given them so many opportunities to make a difference.
