This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am excited to request funding to attend the Ignite to Write virtual professional development event hosted by Smekens Education. This dynamic training, led by Kristina Smekens, focuses on effective whole-class mini-lessons designed to explicitly teach essential writing skills at all grade levels.

Through this professional development, I will gain practical instructional techniques that will enhance my ability to teach writing with clarity, structure, and engagement.

Kristina’s explicit instructional strategies will help me ignite students’ motivation to write while building their confidence in the writing process. These research-based practices align with best practices in literacy instruction and will directly support my students' growth in both writing and reading.

By attending this training, I will be better equipped to:

Implement engaging, effective writing mini-lessons.

Strengthen my students’ writing confidence and skills.

Integrate writing instruction seamlessly with reading strategies.

Bring new energy and research-based strategies to my classroom.

I am eager to apply these strategies in my classroom and share my learning with colleagues to benefit our school community. I appreciate your consideration of my request and look forward to the opportunity to grow as an educator.
