This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every child deserves the chance to fall in love with reading. But for many of my students—especially those learning English or facing challenges outside the classroom—reading doesn’t come easy. I want to change that.

That’s why I’m seeking support to complete a powerful course on The Reading Process—a training that will transform how I teach literacy, not just for this year’s students, but for the 100+ young readers I’ll work with over the next three years and beyond.

This course will equip me with research-based tools to:

Support students who struggle with decoding and comprehension

Reach multilingual learners by honoring their home languages

Tailor instruction to fit how different brains learn

Build confident, curious readers who see reading as a joy—not a task

So many of my students come from underserved communities, where access to high-quality, culturally responsive reading instruction can be life-changing. When I finish this course, I’ll be able to meet every student—past, present, and future—exactly where they are, and guide them forward with empathy, skill, and heart.

Reading opens doors. It builds dreams. With your support, I can help my students walk through those doors—with books in hand and confidence in their hearts.
