Empowering Young Readers: Funding South Carolina Book Award Nominees 2025-2026

My Project

Each year, South Carolina creates lists for book award nominations. There are 20 picture books selected for this. These are the best of the best with both excellent writing techniques and illustrations. Having these books in our school library will bring many positive outcomes for both our students and school.

These books will not only encourage a love for reading, but they will also foster inclusivity and empathy.

These books are carefully selected to engage students and make reading enjoyable. They also foster diverse experiences and perspectives that allow students to see themselves and better understand others.

It is a goal that each student at our school be exposed to each of these 20 picture books. Our school is in a very poor area where all students receive free breakfast and lunch. It is important to make sure that they gain the same experiences as their more fortunate peers do. Bringing these books into our school library would allow that.
