This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach a fantastic group of K-2 students with specific learning disabilities (SLD) and various processing challenges. Many of my students are non-verbal or have limited speech, and they thrive in an environment that is visually stimulating and hands-on. To meet their diverse needs, I am seeking resources that will help make learning more engaging, comfortable, and accessible for every child in my classroom.
Flexible seating and sensory tools are crucial for helping my students focus, self-regulate, and engage in their learning.
The beanbag seat will be a calming option in our sensory corner, offering a space for students to take breaks and re-center themselves when needed. The stools and floor cushions will provide flexible seating options, encouraging movement and choice, allowing students to learn in a way that best suits them. Math manipulatives, like the ten-frame sets, will make abstract concepts more tangible and easier to grasp for young learners. Additionally, the color printer will enable me to create vibrant visuals, individualized materials, and classroom labels, fostering a more organized and visually engaging learning space.
By providing these resources, you will directly impact my students' ability to focus, participate, and feel comfortable in our classroom.
