My Project
My public preschool classroom is a diverse and inclusive learning environment where students of all abilities grow and thrive together. I teach a mix of typically developing children and students with special needs, creating a space where individual strengths are celebrated, and all learners are supported. My students have a wide range of skills, from those who show signs of potential giftedness to English language learners and children with disabilities such as autism and speech delays. This dynamic setting fosters peer modeling, collaboration, and social-emotional development, ensuring that every child can learn in a way that meets their unique needs.
I am seeking funding for an iPad equipped with a specialized communication app to support their growth and independence.
This device will be an essential tool, allowing students to engage more effectively with their peers, teachers, and learning activities. This grant will help bridge the communication gap, ensuring every student has a voice.
Project Goals
1. Enhance Communication Skills–Assist students with expressing their thoughts, needs, and emotions more effectively.
2. Increase Classroom Participation– Enable students to actively engage in lessons, answer questions, and interact with peers using the iPads as a communication tool.
3. Promote Social Interaction—Provide students with a reliable way to communicate in group activities and social settings to support their development of meaningful connections with classmates and teachers.
4. Foster Independence– Equip students with a tool that empowers them to communicate their wants and needs without relying solely on gestures or assistance from others.
5. Improve Academic Engagement– Support literacy, comprehension, and other learning goals by incorporating communication technology into academic tasks.
6. Build Confidence and Self-Advocacy: Help students develop more substantial confidence as they learn to express themselves more clearly and independently.
