The COVID-19 pandemic has magnified the challenges faced by our most vulnerable students - those in Title I-funded and special education programs. At our school, we are dedicated to ensuring every student receives a high-quality education, regardless of their circumstances. To achieve this, we are launching a DonorsChoose project to provide iPads to our Title I-funded and special education students. These devices are not just tools; they are lifelines to a brighter future.
Many of them were disproportionately affected due to factors like limited access to resources, individualized support, and the digital divide.
Our Title I-funded and special education students often lack access to technology at home, deepening the digital divide. This gap in access has hindered their ability to keep up with their peers.
Getting these iPads will make a difference because they will allow for academic support. iPads will provide our students with a versatile learning tool that bridges the digital divide. They will have access to educational apps, e-books, augmentative and alternative communication, and online resources, enabling them to catch up on missed content and receive additional support tailored to their needs. The iPads will also allow for personalized learning. Special education and Title I-funded students often require individualized instruction. iPads will allow our teachers to deliver personalized lesson plans and interventions, ensuring each student's unique needs are met.
