This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a fantastic group of students with autism in a public school. My students are from ages 7 to 9 and have a wide variety of abilities and special skills. Our school is in a very high-need community and we often aren't able to get the supplies and materials our students need and deserve for success in school.
My students have been asking to make a website for a long time. They expressed the desire to upload their work and pictures on the web for other classes and parents to see. I would like to update our website frequently as a way to show other classes our work, as well as allow my students to publish their own masterpieces! I also need to keep copies of each students' work for portfolios, but the students love to take all their work home to show what a good job they did!
If we had this printer/scanner, we would be able to do a lot of things. We could scan each student's hard work to put on our class page so other people can see. We can make quick copies of worksheets when mistakes are made. I would be able to send parents materials home more often as well as keeping the copies for myself.
I also print out many adapted materials for the class, and having this printer would be a huge benefit! My students would be able to share their hard work and dedication with others, and feel even more successful by sharing their ideas and knowledge!
Your help would allow my class to sharpen their technological skills (as this would help me upload the work onto the website, make copies, etc). Also, I could make adapted materials by making copies and printouts to suit each child's' individual learning needs. My students can truly show off their good work by sharing our website with other classes, showing it to other teachers, as well as showing their parents their work! This could be such a positive experience for all!
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. Thank you for being advocates for all children!
