My Project
One of the most exciting applications of the 3D printer in our classroom will be its role in facilitating student innovation for our science fair! With the 3D printer at their disposal, students will have the ability to bring their ideas to life. Whether they're designing a more efficient wind turbine or a novel water filtration system, the 3D printer will serve as a crucial tool for prototyping and refining their innovations.
In preparation for science fairs, students will follow the engineering design process from start to finish.
They will begin by identifying a problem or opportunity for innovation, conducting research to understand the scientific principles at play, and brainstorming potential solutions. With the help of the 3D printer, they will then create prototypes of their designs, allowing them to test and iterate on their ideas until they achieve optimal results. By incorporating the 3D printer into our science fair projects, we are empowering students to become true innovators and problem-solvers.
My students have been actively participating in a research study focusing on motivation to learn and pursue careers in STEM, which will be presented at the NARST conference. The National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST) conference serves as a premier platform for science educators to convene and share groundbreaking research in science education. This esteemed conference brings together scholars, researchers, and practitioners from around the world to exchange ideas, present findings, and collaborate on advancing the field of science education.
