EmPowering Students to Help Others While Partnering with UNICEF
Help me give my students UNICEF Power Bands to track their steps and help others through UNICEF as they build points to provide food for others around the world.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At our Title I school, almost all of my students are second language learners. Their drive to learn and achieve is amazing.
My classroom is full of learners and future leaders who are active throughout the day inside the classroom and on the playground.
My students are the face of the United States of America. Some were born in this country to English speaking parents. Some were born in the United States to Spanish or Vietnamese speaking parents. Others were born in another country and immigrated to the United States. One thing that all of my students have in common is their zest for learning. They are so wonderful in that they don't see the differences between each other.
My Project
Last year my students had a chance to participate with the UNICEF Kid Power Up program. I want to bring this back with this years' class. Kids run and play all day. Why not track their steps and earn UNICEF points to provide for others?
These Kid Power Bands will allow my students to track their daily steps; at recess, PE, or just moving around the campus.
Our students are also involved in a dance class, just think of the steps they will earn while dancing.
These bands track their steps, and what student isn't a bit competitive?
A big push, especially after the new year, is to live a healthier life style. Let's start at school, let's start tracking steps and help others at the same time.
