Empowering Students Through the Arts: Card Creation

My Students

We are on a mission to learn about humanities in a hands-on way. As we quickly approach the 100th day of school we want to uplift at least 100 children in our local hospitals. Our school has experienced tragedy and know all too well the cold feeling of a hospital room. We want to help other children.

My students are 20 creative, outspoken, and lively 2nd graders.

We are a Title I school where all students are provided free breakfast and lunch. My students have a kind heart and are eager to give back to other children. While most students live in low income housing, we are determined to support others in need. At the tender age of 7, students know the importance of supporting others.

My Project

My students need an electric pencil sharpener, electric stapler, markers, colored pencils, card stock, stickers, and long-armed stapler to create cards for children in the hospital. In conjunction with the local hospital coordinator each week students will get a number of boy and girl card orders. Students will work together during writing to create cards for children under 18 in the hospital. The creation of these cards will help my students learn that helping others in their time of need makes a great positive impact. Students will also learn about being compassionate and in service of others.
